President Donald Trump recently opened up about his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding plans and shared a few words about the woman joining the Trump family.
While speaking to reporters during an Oval Office event, Trump revealed that he hoped to attend his son’s wedding celebration in the Bahamas but admitted the timing was difficult because of ongoing international matters and presidential responsibilities.
“He’d like me to go,” Trump said about his son. “But it’s going to be a small private affair, and I’m going to try and make it.”
However, a day later, the president announced that he would remain in Washington instead of traveling to the Bahamas. He explained that current national and international issues required his attention at the White House.
Even so, Trump publicly congratulated the couple and wished them happiness in their marriage.
Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson’s relationship first became public in late 2024 after the pair were photographed together in Palm Beach, Florida. Reports later revealed they had already been dating for several months before appearing publicly as a couple.
The engagement was officially announced during a White House holiday event in December 2025. Donald Jr. reportedly proposed during a birthday trip for Bettina at Camp David.
During the announcement, Donald Jr. joked that he was rarely speechless but admitted he was nervous while proposing.
Sources close to the family claimed President Trump quickly grew fond of Bettina Anderson and believed she fit naturally into the Trump family dynamic. According to insiders, the president appreciated both her personality and the happiness she brought to his son.
The wedding celebration reportedly took place on a private island in the Bahamas with around 40 guests in attendance, including Donald Jr.’s children and several Trump family members.
Family insiders also shared that Bettina developed close relationships with Donald Jr.’s children, especially his eldest daughter Kai, who reportedly enjoys spending time with her.
Despite missing the ceremony due to presidential duties, Donald Trump made it clear that the occasion remained deeply important to him and that he fully supports the couple as they begin their new chapter together.
