One-Half of the Conjoined Twins Got Married, and It Caused a Stir Online

storyteller, May 27, 2026May 27, 2026

Abby Hensel and Brittany Hensel first became famous after appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996. Later, they starred in their own TLC reality show, Abby & Brittany, where viewers saw them learning to drive, traveling, and navigating everyday life as conjoined twins.

The twins share one body but have separate heads, hearts partially connected through one circulatory system, lungs, and other organs. Despite their rare condition, they built independent lives and both became fifth-grade teachers in Minnesota.

In 2021, Abby quietly married Josh Bowling, a nurse and U.S. Army veteran. News of the marriage only became widely public in 2024 after wedding photos and public records surfaced online.

The internet reacted strongly. Some people were supportive and happy for the couple, while others flooded social media with insensitive comments and questions about their relationship.

In response, Abby and Brittany posted a TikTok using a viral audio clip that basically told critics:

“If you don’t like what I do but watch everything I’m doing, you’re still a fan.”

The sisters have mostly kept their private life away from media attention in recent years, but the marriage once again sparked worldwide curiosity because many people were fascinated by how relationships work for conjoined twins.

Despite the attention and criticism, the twins appeared unbothered and continued sharing moments from their lives online with confidence and humor.
